They always have live music and a pop up bar while guests mingled and danced. You can’t tell from this picture but the beautiful outdoor hotel Lobby was the place to be from 6-10pm most nights. We didn’t attend any of the shows last year but I’m so glad we did this year! The resort has a beautiful theater area with a bar where different acts come to entertain each night. It was fun to get out on the water since there are no jet-skis/boats around the resort. We ended up joining the sunset kayak tour one night which was before sunset due to the storms. There are kayaks, paddle boards and hobie cats for use at the beach. You can say no if you want to but honestly I’m glad I said yes to everything since the water aerobics, pool volley ball, Zumba classes and water competitions were so fun! Shoutout to Eddy Murphy (his entertainment name), Diva, The Cat and Mr. I had so much fun with the entertainment crew all week! They were super lively and fun and always pushed us to join the activities. Loved hearing the live saxophone player they had a few of the days! Each day they set up a lunch buffet with tables and chairs for beach go-ers to enjoy instead of walking towards the pool area, which was one of my favorite things. The private beach was just as fabulous with white sand and ample space so you aren’t on top of others. Loved using my GoProHero7Black this trip! J and I didn’t care much so while we always found chairs when we needed to it took some time or weren’t the best location. I will say you have to fight/get up early for chairs by the pool. I am a pool girl through and through and this one was just perfect! Technically, it’s two infinity pools with a swim up bar. The pool/beach was the gem of the resort for us! The colorful and vibrant view was just AMAZING. Again not a deal breaker by any means just an observation. I would have preferred it inside since we didn’t have a view and didn’t really use it as much as we did last year. The only difference was the bathtub is outside which if I’m being honest wasn’t my favorite. This room met all our needs with similar amenities to last year, mini bar, safe/closet, overhead rain shower. It was newer since this resort opened at the end of 2016 and the room had a great amount of space. As long as the room/bathroom has air conditioning and is clean, we are happy. Sometimes an upgrade is possible upon arrival so we figure book the basic since we also aren’t in the room that much. We always opt for the basic garden view king during these vacations. There are sometimes travel agents in the groups who can also offer you a lower price booked through them. However, after scouting our usually booking sites ( too) we found that our triple AAA discount booked through the Secrets website gave us the best deal!Īnother money saving tip: Join a facebook group of resorts you are looking to visit 6 months in advance for tips on whether you are getting a great price for the week you are looking at. April is actually a perfect time to go because prices are generally lower per night (minus school breaks in your area/Easter time). I do think the earlier you book the better. I watched the prices on fluctuate all through November/December but finally settled on booking in January. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves! Fast forward to when J and I were trying to decide on our spring tropical vacation and Secrets Cap Cana was a no brainer. I remember seeing her pictures a few years ago and thinking I have to stay there one day. I had a feeling I might be since this is one of my mom’s favorite resorts she has been too and she’s been all over the Caribbean. I was in love with the beautiful and vibrant scenery at Secrets Cap Cana. Hope you don’t mind picture overload but it was paradise!!! Secrets Cap Cana Last year I wrote about our stay at Secrets Maroma Beach in Riviera Maya Mexico and the year before at The Atlantis Resort in Nassau, Bahamas. I like to write these reviews because I get asked so many questions from friends and family about what I like and dislike about the resorts. As promised here is my recap/review of my stay at Secrets Cap Cana in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
